Our primary beneficiary is Neighborhood Bike Works, a youth development organization in West Philadelphia, which creates educational, recreational, and career-building opportunities through bicycling. |

Since 1996, NBW has offered classes on bike repair, maintenance and safety after school, on weekends, and in the summer. In these Earn-A-Bike programs, kids have the opportunity to earn their own bicycles by building them out of the many used parts donated by the community. To expand their reach, NBW often partners with other community organizations in addition to SpokesPeople, including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Girl and Boy Scouts and the Philadelphia School District.
In addition to helping students build and earn over 250 bikes in just the last year, Neighborhood Bike Works has
Received over 800 donated bikes
Saved 15 tons of useful materials that would otherwise be in a landfill
Distributed over 200 helmets to Philadelphia youth
Trained 14 school teachers to teach the Earn-A-Bike program in their own classrooms
Taught kids how to work with bikes in six different public schools
By supporting SpokesPeople, you can help us ensure more successes like these in the future – or support Neighborhood Bike Works directly.
